Anthony Freveletti

Beginings

Anthony’s love for wine is rooted in the memories of working with his father James Freveletti Senior who was not a professional winemaker but extremely passionate about all things wine. Every summer as a young boy was spent in the vineyard, learning only about the agricultural product and its relationship with the soil.

As a kid I was taught only the agriculture part of wine and there were no such things as chemical treatments in my world. My dad talked of having only great respect for the soil and all things that inhabit it, like insect farmers and the special funghi that makes the soil so healthy”. - Anthony

The soil is the foundation we build the wine from, what makes up your foundation will reveal who your wine is. Another life lesson found through wine!

Some years later as Anthony got a bit older, his Dad began to introduce him to his own palate , tasting the results of what they got from the soil they worked and grapes they farmed. This exploration led to a journey of palate awareness that was to be extenuated by being introduced to his stepfather‘s wine cellar. A wine cellar that was stocked, almost entirely, with French and Italian wines from 1950 through 1980.

Career

By the mid 1980’s Anthony was working in Restaurants, to pay the bills, but always gravitated to higher end restaurants that had fancy food and a great big wine list.

Shortly thereafter Anthony started his career in wine sales that now spans over three decades with a firm handle on all wines from around the world. Anthony’s involvement in pioneering the DTC movement that started in the late eighties has brought him full circle, and today he is back where he first started his career. He is now doing DTC sales, but this time with a twist! He is now helps you connect with several wineries that he provides consulting services for in Tuscany.

Throughout his thirty year career in wine, Anthony has worked from the upper management of one of America’s largest European Importers, to being a partner in a state distribution company for several years, and now as a private consultant with an impressive client list of wineries in different world wine regions, but focuses mainly in Tuscany, a place he considers his second home.

Today’s focus for Anthony is bringing wine directly into your home, by helping you connect with small run wineries, US importers and the travel guides that can help you get there.
Wines that meet the criteria of clean crafted wine from the rootstock to the cork!

He believes that sustainable & organic agriculture will bring forth the greatest quality of grapes to be crafted by winemakers who have a deep connection to their specific terrior that’s providing a wine the capability in exhibiting its sense of place in the world.

“Being in the different sales fields of import, state distribution and retail, I had to reinvent myself to succeed in each field. Today luckily I am who I was at the beginning of my journey, I’m home again. Over the years my career became more and more about the sales quota and boxes depleted, than about the love for wine and began to wonder if this is where I wanted to be and do. This is when I realized, that I just needed to be who I already was, and continue true to my journey! I now give a “wine experience” everyday to young & old, experienced or not, and professionals or soon to be pro’s . I approach each one with unmeasurable passion and make the connection for everyone to the soil foundation, root system, grape and terrior. I also show how to taste better and of course how to shop better. Change the way we approach a wine territory, by understanding the particular wine zone wherever in the world that might be! I often say I am looking for mediocre wine so I can tell what not to buy, always find the balance on your palate, taste well first, and great wine will then find you!” —Anthony
